Founding of Club
Auburn Kiwanis Club was founded June 26, 1958. The Auburn Kiwanis Club's first president was Don Mefford.  Meetings were originally held at noon at the the Plantation, a high-end restaurant on South Wayne Street in Auburn on the site of the present Meteor Tavern. The Auburn Kiwanis Club is known for our service projects that include Fifth of July Fireworks, Easter egg hunts for children, baking Holiday Loaf, highway clean-ups, raising money to benefit children and children’s support groups, and providing scholarships. The club has enjoyed a rich history over the years, with its members coming from fields like accounting, civil service, education, management, and many more.
